I ... entered the poem of life, whose purpose is ... simply to witness the beauties of the world, to discover the many forms that love can take. (Barabara Blackman in 'Glass After Glass')

Twisting Again

I yell the words, twist in my chair
swivelling my hips like I did that year;
that teenage summer

when truth was clear,
youth was everywhere;
so was love, my dear.

(Then, my hair
wasn’t white but fair;
my feet danced on the floor.)

  1. Oh, Rosemary! I love this. I love the echo of the lyrics found throughout, in subtle ways. I love the memory of it, and the descriptions. So well done.

    1. Just rolled off my pen (keyboard). Lots of fun. :-) (Oh yes, and I did do that in my chair, to the video posted at dVerse, as well as this one.)

  5. What a vivid and vibrant image! I'm there with you. In fact, I can remember my dad teaching me to twist with a towel.

  8. Oh yes, I was there, too. Your 44 words dance well.

  9. I was with you in these 44 words. Fortunately, in my rejuvenatement period, I can still dance on the floor, twist and shout -- just not for the duration of youth. But, come the day when I'm sitting in wheels, I do believe I'll be chair dancing like this wonderful lady :)

  10. The lyrics of our youth. Life was a dance then, wasn't it? Perhaps it's safer to chair-twist today. Not so hard on the knees. ☺

  11. I loved that dance--so many good times. Not good for old ladies though--ha!

    I love that you yelled the words and danced in your chair, Rosemary! The spirit is still there. :)

  13. Memories are made of this! I wonder if I regret being older though? One achieves a different rhythm, I'd like to think.
