I ... entered the poem of life, whose purpose is ... simply to witness the beauties of the world, to discover the many forms that love can take. (Barabara Blackman in 'Glass After Glass')

One magpie: haiku, July 2015

one magpie
the gurgle of a stream
over stones

no traffic
along the winding road
trees close in

***

winter sun
the hills across the way
hazy grey

3/7/15

gurgling rain –
waxing crescent
six days old

***

waxing moon
rain gurgling
all night

22/7/15

roses –
dark shadows
on the wall

24/7/15

black-topped
mountainous clouds –
bare trees

25/7/15

  1. These are great. I like how you keep them nice and tight. I miss magpies...in a way. These birds do not live in my current part of the world.

  9. I'm not a haiku fan, Rosemary, but i wanted to drop by and tell you that I don't agree with La Bruyere either, but it suited the poem. :-)

  10. This is a nice project haiku string, Rosemary.
I forget your seasons are opposite ours. You wonderfully are telling how things shut down for winter.
