Dear X, I still
remember you well
and fondly.
How well you fondled ...
but, ah well,
that’s deep
in the past now
and you too,
long
departed,
the dear part
of memory
lingering still,
till I open again
that core space
within me,
where with such ease
you entered,
exploring
my hidden depths
until I felt you
knew me better
than any other
could or would,
bone and flesh
united, then
annihilated ...
well,
I remember.

I ... entered the poem of life, whose purpose is ... simply to witness the beauties of the world,
to discover the many forms that love can take. (Barabara Blackman in 'Glass After Glass')
