Small Cat Evening

Small cat in the evening sprawls or curls
on the newly-vacated chair at my desk
or next to me on the two-seater couch,
and finally on the other half of the bed.

On the newly-vacated chair at my desk
my smell, my warmth, my imprinted shape
are a comfort. And, she assumes equal authority.

Or next to me on the two-seater couch
she takes her place as my companion
sharing the time while I watch TV, as couples do.

And finally, on the other half of the bed,
she asserts that she belongs, it's her home too,
she has the right – also, we have the love.

  8. Wonderful companions you two. My dog loves to curl up on my robe at the foot of the bed at night.

  9. Oh what is it about writers and their cats? My fur-babies also love to take over my desk chair, and there isn't hardly a night where they aren't curled into my bed as well. :-) Sweet muses they are!

  11. Pretty thoughts, Rosemary. I think your cat loves you!!! Lucky her. She reminds me of the little dog Mrs. Jim had when we were married. I finally could move her out of her spots and the bed, but she didn't want to give them up for a while.
BTW, the cat picture I have on my post may be your cat, looking at the fireplace that has gone out. It was a 'screen capture' picture and I don't remember where I found it. If it is yours, may I continue to use it? Thank you.

    1. Not my photo, Jim. Where I live, we don't need wood fires. The winters are so brief, and not seriously cold (though we do complain about them a bit).
