The Casting

The full moon was clear and bright when I went out to cast circle.
At first there was only stillness, then there came a rushing wind.
I cast my spells into the wind, which carried them clear to the moon.

(This is a Korean form called a sijo.)

  1. Korean sijo!
    It feels like a haiku.

    1. Good! I kind of wanted it to — though I'm not sure they are supposed to.

  3. Yes indeed very haiku like weaving you do. Writing a lot of haiku myself... I must say this poetry form is so "talkative" but I think you did a great job at it.

  6. On some level the sijo is like the haiku - that is, in terms of the naturalistic or philosophical themes, as in your poem. But you have more expanse to explore that theme, and you've used that expanse beautifully.

  7. That was a strong wind. Or strong magic. Maybe both. The moon has been a powerful draw lately. Nice

Yes, One wants to do wonders with whatever is at hand! Great Sijo Rosemary! It's similar to haiku and more versatile. One gets a choice now with sijo.

    1. Once you start, it does get sort of addictive.
I'm trying to envisage your casting motion. Is it good for warts, this standing by the light of the Moon and casting forth? :-)

    2. Here in the Southern Hemisphere, counter-clockwise circle.

Theoretically it could work for warts, but I think there are more specific remedies.

    3. Oh, I was referring to casting circle. If you mean the spells - with mind and intention/visualisation.
