I ... entered the poem of life, whose purpose is ... simply to witness the beauties of the world, to discover the many forms that love can take. (Barabara Blackman in 'Glass After Glass')

Darkness coming down: haiku and things for April 2007

6/4/07:

Darkness coming down.
A child on a footpath running
just ahead of night.

13/4/07:

Request

A flood of haiku
to carry me away from
our drought-stricken land.

20/4/07:

April morning.
Two pink flowers
half concealed by weeds.

***

April clouds
form the shape of a dragon
thinner than vapour trails.

***

We wake to loud knocks.
Three young schoolboys
beg to wash our car.

26/4/07:

All summer we swam.
The creek looks very flat now.
Weeds grow in the mud.
