A stream, soothing cold
on a fierce day…
On winter mornings
heat from the shower
pouring over my shoulders
and down my back…
After sobbing,
the peace
engulfing body and brain
before deep sleep…
Do I grin to recall?
No, I shudder with pleasure.
A quadrille using the word 'grin', written for dVerse Quadrille – 4.
interesting how a "shudder" is usually used for fear or displeasure, but it CAN be from pleasure too. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThe ending line was unexpected: I shudder with pleasure.

I love the progression, Rosemary! And the ending - oh yes.

ReplyDeleteShudder with pleasure... so much like goosebumps of warmth... love it...
ReplyDeleteNothing quite like a hot shower on cold mornings. This makes me think of the fact that we would not know pleasure without the opposite.
